Something strange and unpleasant happened to our iPod video between our NAS and the servers you download from. It played (and still plays) just fine here, but the download's crashing Quicktime and iTunes playback alike. We're re-uploaded it (we rendered a fresh file, first) and posted it for download once again.
Here's a direct link, iTunes users can re-download after deleting the file in iTunes. (Please don't unsubscribe, tho!):
Right click here to download DL.TV Episode 41, for the iPod (206MB)
We're also spending some heavy quality time with encoding process once again.
Video that looks brightly lit and crisp in our initial capture is looking dark. Dreary. Unlit, even, after we encode it.
It's not the studio. Yes, we white balance the cameras. It's not the f-stop, iris or a general need on our part to be ... dark. It's definately happening during the encoding. We've given Roger Chang (yes, that Roger Chang) a big stick and carte blanch to beat the problem out of the system. We think you'll be happy w/ the the iPod video now.
Oh, and to the dude that keeps posting and emailing about iPod video and the WMV video being a useless waste of time and server space?
Quit it. The iPod viddy makes up 25% of our downloads. The WMV is the preferred format another big chunk of viewers.
Our apologies on the bad download, and our promise that we'll keep working to give you the best video quality we can.
Patrick
