Robert is right, Joey should work for that gaming machine. Joey is really upset? Boo-Hoo-Hoo, What a Wuss.

I wish someone gave me a $3000 gaming machine when I was a kid. I worked for my geek toys and never ask for hand outs.

Robert, I'm backing you %100

April 18, 2006 7:40 PM

I agree with them. I've had great experience with Alcohol 120%. It' makes life a whole lot easier not having to change out gaming discs. The only draw back is that you gotta have a huge harddrive. There is also Daemon tools that you should check out that's similiar if there are instances where Alcohol doesn't work.

Oh the hilarity of hearing Patrick pronouncing homokaasu.org. Seriously. You guys. The direct Finnish translation of that URL is "gay gas". Homo everyone can pretty much figure out themselves but kaasu means gas. So you can imagine where the rasterbator gets its name...

Yeah. But Rasterbator's a cool app.

I purchased Office 2003 Pro and Project through our companies employee purchase program for $20 U.S. each. The price included shipping to my home.

While I don't know what my company pays I suspect it's the same price.

Another free, but great tool for burning ISOs (and a whole range of other image formats) is Imgburn: http://www.imgburn.com

Its created by LIGHTNING UK! of DVDDecrypter fame, and builds on the burning engine of DVDDecrypter.

Rumour has it that an ISO create mode will be added in the near future as well.

April 20, 2006 6:00 AM

Another good tool for working with ISOs is MagicISO (found at Magiciso.com), although Alcohol is great too.

Oh yeah, and on the Windows XP licensing thing - I have 2 computers at home, and I have a single user license legit copy of Windows XP Pro. I use the same copy on both and it works fine with Windows Genuine Advantage... Microsoft can run and jump otherwise, after all I am a single user :D

I haven't tried Alcohol, but I do use GameJackal which allows you to play games without the CD. But it doesn't require the full image of the play CD.

http://www.gamejackal.com/home.asp

Install more games with less hard drive space.

Wow! What a time zone differance, here Thursday falls on the 20th.

April 20, 2006 5:10 PM

Or at least tell him to QUIT POUNDING ON THE DESK!! Pat is strong enough to carry the show BY HIMSELF without the "comic-relief" and the show would be better and more viewable. If you JUST GOTTA have a sidekick, why not Roger, or almost anybody else EXCEPT Moron, then Pat wouldn't have to spend so much time getting Robert to behave like an adult and stating disclaimers over Robert's chicken cackling after his hilarious-to-himself-only hack and crack tips.
Seriously, think professionalism, production value, THINK LEO LAPORTE and WWLLD (what would Leo Laport do?) and not driving away viewers and not making enemies with tech companies you're trying to spotlight.

April 20, 2006 6:28 PM

I watch DL.TV for Patrick and Robert. I don't believe the show would work as well if there was only one person. If either one wasn't on the show on a regular basis I wouldn't be as inclined to watch it.

Posted by: Jim Mc
April 20, 2006 6:51 PM

Patrick and Robert offer a unique on screen relationship. I don't believe seperating them (at this time) would help the show.

One person carrying the show would be a burden.

Robert is not a comedic relief.

Patrick and Robert deserve kudos for providing technolgy information from many sources ... and in a way that even a simpleton (like myself) can understand.

They aren't Walter Chronkite or Leo Laporte. That's ok with me. If it's not ok with you then...explain how making changes would make the show better. The more detailed the better.

Regards

I watched the episode up to the rasterbator part when I downloaded the software to try it. I inputed 100 sheets without looking closely assuming the software meant 100 sheets was the number of pages I would allow the software to use. Well I left the computer to eat and when I came back I found 1000 sheets had printed duplexed and flashing for more paper. I'm still really angry because I wasted 1000 sheets of paper and a lot of toner [and not including all that wear on the printer]. What was worse was I forgot to turn off duplexing, so I could not have used the print outs anyway.

The only good thing I got out of this was I verified the rated print speed of my printer. Yeah, so if you want a fast printer get the one I have: Xerox Phaser 6350. Just remember to buy additional RAM, but don't buy from Xerox themselves. They charge $700 for 512MB stick where you can buy a non-Xerox stick for only $60.

I for one absolutely adore Robert on DL.TV. The show wouldn't be as funny and entertaining without him, so don't you guys dare get rid of him! Patrick and Robert are the soul of the show and the reason I keep tuning in.

Robert's funny comments and random rants have me in fits of laughter most of the time and I still am able to enjoy the tech news and reviews, so it's a perfect combination. Plus, I love Patrick's reactions to Robert's random rants. Rock on!

Couldn't disagree more with "Conrack's" ill-conceived and tatty comment above.

I'm still laughing about 'Robert's Rant' at the end of show #52; he calls them as he sees them. It's interesting that since that show has subsequently 'aired' that this repartee has been personally discussed in my presence no less than three times.

The combination of Robert & Patrick is just the right mix of content, viewpoint and balance.
