They must have no idea that the stream has stopped. If they had a fatal gear problem they would have let us know on the home page. They should have someone monitoring the feed just like a TV station uses a OTA set to see what they are actually putting out.

Verizon bites so bad! They toasted my DSL connection... I finally clocked it @ 20.3 Kbps! yeah - less than half of my dialup modem (which I'm using now just to gripe).
So much for catching the show live. Maybe by the time it's finally rendered Verizon will have gotten their act together & I'll be able to DL it in under a week!:P

Well I have tried ubunta, suse, pclinuxos and couple others, not found ONE that would find my optical ps2 mouse, if I did I think I would switch to linux.

They really need to set up some forums. Communicating through comments is getting a little ridiculous.

Hey, did you try Knoppix? I think of all Linux distros it has the best hardware detection.

IIRC, they did a poll not too long ago. I don't remember the details, but I DO remember that it was one of those nasty, "sinisterservices.com" shady-looking, you-cannot-pass-go-until-you-click-this-damn-window popup pain-in-the-ass, 15-page, fingernail torture surveys. I sure hope they got good data from it.

i have Ubuntu installed on my "stable" machine. Recently i aquired a new PC that i decided to test a bunch of distros on. Right now it's Zenwalk but i think the last show i watched was while i was on PCLinuxOS. (By the way, Suse looked cool, i just didn't spend much time on it when i couldn't figure out a way --quickly -- to add repos to yast2. i'll be giving it a try again when my friend and i start our LUG)
Mickey: yeah, that's the one sucky thing about linux. some hardware just isn't supported or, if it's supports, it isn't WELL supported. I think that might be one of the reasons you hear patrick mention screen resolutions so much. ;)

A dl.tv forum is a cool idea. I think all the new linux users could share a lot of good tips, for example. However, judging from the family of extremetech web pages, extremetech may publish a lot of hacking guides, but apparently web design is not an area of expertise. The ziffdavis sites are trash.
Luckily, there are plenty of other useful forums out there, except for one - a dl.tv forum.

HNo not tried it, I will give it a shot. I have really considered moving to linux, but you wonder when it can't find a mouse LOL. Suse was the worse, it didn't even find my router. I am poor at best with linux, apparently lots to learn to use it. EAsy to install now but afterwards!!!!!!!!!

I think it'd be cool if you could triple-boot Windows, Mac, & Linux on a Mactel machine, particularly one of the new 17" Macbook Pros. That'd be the ultimate uber-geek laptop! Get the 120-gig hard drive, devote 40 gigs to each OS... :)

do a search on triple boot bootcamp, many people are interested in this. Personally, I think virtualization is more valuable.

Sorry everyone lost their stream, but now I feel better about ditching my toasted DSL for dialup so I could at least read the posts :)
Maybe they need a court stenograher to keep transcripts going when the stream dies :D
It's back to the future of text based narrative: The "Infocom edition" - or DL.TXT ;)

Wow. I just got back from a late meeting and now I am so happy! Normally I would be sad that I missed the live feed but it looks like I will catch it archived on Friday?,Saturday?, oh whatever the day. Hey maybe we could have a listserv that would email us out when the downloads are ready?

That was the only bad episode of DLTV I've ever seen. Jesse James Garrett, besides saying "uh" no less than 1,500+ times, is one of the least compelling speakers in the history of uncompelling speech. Please *never* do that again.

Patrick forgot to name a few great features that I.E. 7 has that FF doesn`t...QUICK TABS and the ANTI-PHISHING filter. And it still appears I.E. renders pages fastest.

I use USPS Flat Rate Boxes all the time, and no, I'm not being sarcastic. Being an eBay seller, USPS Priority Mail is the best thing since sliced bread!
It's great to see non-technology sponsors on DL.TV! That's the future of pod/vidcasting.

Good point re: non-tech sponsors. Although, it could be someone at either usps or dl.tv marketing is REALLY on the ball and thinking "ebay" - no stranger to the tech enthusiast scene.
Can we hit 200 posts???
