Are there better browsers than firefox?
How is the implementation of RSS (XML) feeds?

I tried Opera 9 beta, and I wasn't impressed with their widgets. It could have changed dramatically. But I think I will stay with Firefox w/SessionSaver and Google Desktop.

Guess what? WGA might be on the verge of getting even messier. In fact, one report claims WGA is about to become a Windows kill switch and when asked Microsoft for an on-the-record response, they refused to deny it.

Anyways, I heard about the new parking meters here in Vancouver, B.C. Canada today. Actually there is a 30 Cent surcharge not 30%.

Might be there are now too many people using the net and not enough bandwidth to watch the live feed. Traffic shaping failures, QoS flaws, p2p contention. Perhaps ZDnet cannot do anything about these externalities and most of us will simply have to wait 24 hours to download the show.

What's interesting is I heard that the BDR-101A wasn't going to be released to the public (IIRC it was something to do with our old friend DRM)...I wonder if that changed in order to beat HD-DVD burners to market...
In other news, the next DVD burner from Pioneer, the DVR-112, is rumoured to use native SATA (unlike most SATA optical drives that essentially use a SATA->IDE converter internally). Can't wait if its true, I guess time will tell.

Glad you recommended Opera 9, I am goign to give it a try I haven't been very happy with Firefox. It crashes in my opinion more than IE. Also Firefox seems to be hogging my system ram I have 1 gig of system ram and firefox is using over 200megs of memory with 1 window open and only 3 tabs. That seems absolutly outrageous to me.
Oh and I have ZERO plug-ins so that can't be it.
But I am still using firefox for Tabs and Security :-/
So thanks :-)

Robert probably made a slip of the tongue and should have said "Spreadsheet" instead of Excel. OpenOffice.org2 will read Excel files and I believe is part of the default install on SuSE. OpenOffice can run on windows too, and is free http://www.openoffice.org

If you boot into a command line after getting Xgl to work you can try running the command "startx" to get the GUI up. If this fails, then there is probably a problem with your xorg.conf file.
The file /etc/X11/xorg.conf controls your monitor and graphics card settings (along with a few other things). You can use a text editor from the command line to edit and check this file if you can't get into a GUI. You probably have a typo in there somewhere, or are trying to load the wrong video driver. Print out the Xgl installation instructions, boot into the command line, edit the file & compare to what the instructions say need to be in there.
Good Luck!

Blu Ray media like the 5th Element is so overused. Blu Ray is really doing itself a disservice. It is not ready using MPEG2. The media is ruched and grainy. Sony has released the 5th Element 4 times now despite it being a "reference." Seriously, is there any tread left or is it just like throwing a hotdog down a hallway (Stewie.)
Blu Ray has more potential, but HD DVD is impressing now. Blu Ray is like a 12 year old and HD DVD is 21. If you are doing the Blu Ray you are a pedophile.

I care very little about eye candy and no matter what OS I run, I minimize by default all the options apart from a nice background so I must admit that I found the fade option to be very useful as well as the desktop cube thing. The wiggle effect is cute but as useless as other similar stuff.
And there is binaries available for Ubuntu Dapper!!
