For a friend's laptop, she uses it mostly for Skype, iTunes and browsing. Too much spyware so i'm reinstalling. Should I setup a limited account or just add all kinds of spyware removal tools and let her run as administrator? Will it cause her probs if she runs as a lim. user in XP sp2?

I picked up a Clix after you guys took a look at it a while back, and I gotta say I love it (I'm using it with Yahoo Music Unlimited). I've saved a ton of money listening to an album one time that ended up sucking instead of spending the $10 to $15 on the CD.
BTW, any Clix owners out there, if you download the iRiviter re-encoding software and download the iPod DL.TV downloads, it re-encodes very quickly and easily and plays great on the Clix!
Thanks guys.

Releaseing one format over any others only gets them complained at.
You are expecting the internet to be PROVEN tech..
It isnt.
With 5 Major corps ALL NOT TRYING to be the internet, and MAYBE 20 (or so) connections between ALL the Corps for ALL the USA...If 1 site goes down, it can black out 1/2 the net.
It would be truly interesting IF, these corps wouldnt FIGHT each other to make a REAL Net, that interweaves the WHOLe system..Insted of 5 spiders, fighting each other over 20 little spots that touch each other.
Screw it, Give it to the governement and have a NATIONAL phone service. Thay CANt do any worse.

If you are tired of watching the show and tired of them being free, providing you with good content, and normally timely fasion then go watch some of the crap out there on the internet.

It is one thing to be late. It is entirely another to give your loyal viewers the silent treatment as to the status of the show.

How old are you? I'm guessing 12 or 13. No one forces you to watch this show. Being as it is a downloadable item you can watch it any time you want to. So your time being so important rant is meaningless. You took the time to post a cry baby post and therefore wasted everybody elses time who had to read it.
This is a good show as is evidenced by all the people posting here waiting for the download. Keep up the good work Patrick and Robert.

Yes they are distributing it for free to us but if it was truley free then it would NOT have commercials in it.. I think 98% of the people here that are whining about the show being late are either a) spoiled, b) I think 98% of the people here that are whining about the show being late are either a) spoiled, b)
This show is not vital to your survival and is not costing you any money to watch, nor are you losing any money by not watching it. Therefore, you can wait until it is finished to watch it, or you could have tuned it live to see it Tuesday night.
All you're going to accomplish by complaining and belly-aching is pissing the DL.TV crew off. Either that, or they're getting a good laugh out of the lack of appreciation being shown here by some people. I personally think it's embarassing to see some of these responses.
"My time is money" my ass. If your time is so important, go do something productive with it instead of watching an IPTV show. Better yet, what are you even doing posting comments here, Mr. Executive-of-the-important-company? You don't have time for that! You need to balance your budget (read: allowance)!
Good luck with whatever the problem is, DL.TV crew, and just ignore the ingrateful little bastards spamming the comments.

Posted by:
Spooky
August 16, 2006 7:55 PM
You know, I download the show every week, but I never look at the comments. Now I know why.
1) Learn to spell or use your spell check software. Misspellings just make you look stupid.
2) "Free to you" means exactly that. You didn't pay for it. (Did you pay? If so, I have a bridge for sale...) If Dell did, it still doesn't entitle you to anything.
3) Why would you watch or comment if you don't like dl.tv? No one is forcing you. If there are better people doing better content, then go get that content instead!
4) Namecalling, especially when it includes obscenities, just makes you look (are we seeing a trend here?) stupid. It certainly says more about you than about them.
Pat and Robert, keep up the good work. And do us all a favor and block the ip's of the little darlings with the obscenities. We don't need that.

Hmmmmmmmm...
"MasterInsan0" is somewhat correct in his resoning most if not all of the people complaining about the episode being late are spoiled. But MasterInsan0 is wrong in saying that theses people are spamming the board. They're not spamming the board their just giving their opinion.
To the dude who said "my time is my money" he's 100% correct. It takes his own personal time to download and watch dl.tv. And when he does, dl.tv makes a little more sponduli (money). Becuase truthfully without the viewers dl.tv cant produce the quality content that they do.
But my feelings on this situation is that it makes for a good laugh to see all these people complain that show isn't available for download. There're acting like the show is crack cocaine. But they have every right to that. But it should be done in a professional way, which most have been, but calling norton a "lazy F*cktard" is funny but wrong. Because pat is probably as we speak working to get the ep out. The person who wrote this is a basement dwelling virgin but a funny one.
I really hope that norton, heron, chang and the gang are sitting and laughing at this incident. Becuause it's very funny.

August 16, 2006 8:32 PM
I'm not gonna go as far as some of these people, but I would suggest that if the dl.tv folks want to keep a good sized viewership, they should put out the program in a consistent and timely manner. Tech problems happen, but this is their job. How many people would get to keep their jobs if they were constantly putting out late reports and not meeting deadlines? Every time the show isn't put up for download the next day, people are leaving, and taking your advertising dollars with them. It's eventually gonna add up.

I think they should give up trying to make a live show (nobody else does) and just manage to get it taped and released on a regular basis. If I'm watching it what do I care if it's live or not? It's hard to get home in time to see it at 4:00pm anyway.

How come the downloadable version has been late so much lately? It used to be up before noon the next day. Is Patric playing solitare and forgetting to start the next render? Or some other game that draws his attention away from what he is getting paid to do. All well I will get the show when it is avaliable anyway. Too good to miss.

Folks, get a grip here. The question yu really have to ask yourself is "Could I live without it?".
Personally I am feeling a little euphoric, a CD in the drive and Nero ready to burn.
Need to change the name from DL.TV to Rodney.Dangerfield.Got.More.Respect.TV
I would suggest torrents or some other P2P, but I want them to remain in business and "on the air".

Well, they are trying to turn a profit, this is def. not a free show. Note the ad support etc. If the product is lacking then letting them know shouldnt be an issue. If there is a rare technical issue, post a news item. If the system is brokem, take the time to fix it.

Have we not rehashed this over and over again about having some patience. If your car doesn't start in the morning on the first try do you call the car dealer and complain? If so then whine away, otherwise have patience and turn the key again (meaning hit refresh on the dl.tv page) :) You might get somewhere...

Great show Guys! The little Chocolate bit kinda slowed the flow, but you did the best you could impromptu! :)
on another note:
-rant mode
The nicest way that there could possibly be, would be to respect others' positive contributions and ideas. "In the nicest possible way" though a respectful phrase in and of itself alludes to a form of slighting another person. Basically its a way to TRY and shut someone down and shows little respect for their contributions.

It would be great to have a BitTorrent download option.

It must be so dreary, to render in so many different formats, setting up all the parameters then just waiting and hoping something doesn't break or the software doesn't bug out 32 minutes into the rendering footage, or whatever. Resetting, hoping and trying again and maybe even again, long periods of walking around and coming back to check on the progress time and time again. Yuck!
I know the wide variety of formats is to get as many viewers in on it as easily as possible but I think that's a little too much to ask/provide for. I want DL.TV to concentrate on content not on how its going to be delivered.
One nice semi-squished ubiquitous AVI encode would be just fine. Then let whomever wants to play the show on specific media or mediums gather thier own rendering tools and have at it.
Maybe that would keep some of the whiners busy with rendering instead of contributing to one of the most useless comments pages I've ever come across---then again...

Perhaps if enough viewers felt the same they might consider to do fewer formats, otherwise its probably not going to change. The comments page has had some good feedback and ideas for new topics.
Unfortunately, not all of the viewers have the same amount of patience and understanding as others do. Take the good with the bad and since theres plenty of good ..its all good ;)

"despite clean reinstalls, system rebuilds and reinstalls... we ended up moving it all off to one of our Macs to finish the rendering while we try and figure out what changed in Windows XP."
When you need to get something important done, just use a Mac.

No, MasterInsanO's time is not money. He is not losing anything while he waits for the downloads. Most of us who have REAL JOBS and live in the REAL WORLD don't "wait" for the downloads. We check periodically to see if they're there yet. If they are, we download. If not. we don't. It's like complainng the store doesn't everhave the thing you want to buy. Either decide you can wait or go elsewhere. Namecalling is never, EVER, a solution to anything.

Not complaining about the delay, as we all know stuff happens; and when Windows is concerned it happens frequently. I do have a bone to pick with the professionalism of the DL.TV team and their non-appreciation of their viewers.
I share Not In Touch with Viewers's Sentiments here. It would have been appropriate to notify the viewers of the delay as soon as they became aware of a problem. I would go further in recommending that they choose a fixed time at which downloads will be released (with enough time to render and then some) so as to squash the ambiguity and any premature whining.
I would hate for DL.TV to go the way of TechTV and the Dodo as a result of losing its viewership. If there is any hope of competing with broadcast or cable TV, improvement is needed. After all, if a game were delayed, sports fan would riot had they been confronted by black screens as opposed to an explanation for the delay. All it takes is a few bits of HTML and a moment of time.
Otherwise&.Great show guys =)

What's up with this episode? I got the H.264 version and the whole show was interlaced.
Also I don't see much need for an HD version, but a higher bit rate would be nice (I use 500kbs for 320x240). A nice 800-1000kbs would be a good improvement and would scale much nicer. I do sort of like the idea of a widescreen version 848x480, but don't care too much.
Anyway keep up the great show.

I know that the Pat and Robert love HD formats, but its truly the content that matters!
Rendered content in whatever format matters!
Pretty is "nice to have", but not needed.
I receive eWeek and PCMag emails (daily) that delineate much of the headlines covered on the show.
Its the stuff we don't hear about that rocks and the information about useful gadgets and software (QTParted). Interviews are awesome, like the one you did with Seagate. Industry people that can manage to speak to the audience at a relatively basic level totally capture the audidence.
Juicy tidbits that generate excitement about future technologies and performance gains make viewers want more!
Eliminating myths about technologies or like the pronunciation of common tech speak (Linooks).
Occasional HARDCORE explanations of how to secure your OS and home network would be sooooo beneficial to viewers.
Its the old Quake 3 vs UT99 scenario, one has lots of flashy eye candy, but, imo, poor game play, where as the other looks good enough but totally rocks in game play.

Just checked out the link from PC Mags daily mail, liked it, but feel is was VERY irresponsible for Heron to suggest inhaling haylon (sp) and should realize that as an "adult" who may be a role model to adolescents and immature young adults, albeit very gifted technologically. Notron, thank you for your PSA warning regarding this, but in this day and age of trip out first and think later, Heron should at least some modicom of journalistic ethics and responsibility to your viewers.

Why was the screen on the Creative Zen flickering on screen? I thought that screens flickered when filmed because of the refresh rate and that lcds didn't really have refresh rates. The tv and the sandisk screens don't flicker when they are on camera, so why did the zen?
