(female fan of dltv)
Robert mentioned ShoutCast and I use a wonderful FREE utility that records and saves all stations listened to in ShoutCast as an mp3 to the folder of your choice.
http://www.stationripper.com/
The free version has some limitations to the paid version, but still a gem! It works much like Replay Radio.
Loved the free show-- DLTV on a Tues!
Great info on the solution to a "burned in" image on an HD screen. I have not come across it yet, but if I do, I will not panic!

Holy cow, this is up all ready? That is pretty amazing and all of the file formates to boot!
While I have not watched the show yet, you guys need to give NeoOffice for the Mac some love too. It is the more 'Mac' open office (which there is for Mac but requires X11). NeoOffice does not require X11 to be installed, and it has a little bit more 'aqua' to it.
Keep up the great show, the only thing that keeps me sane is knowing that you guys are right there along with me. ;)

First poster, CitizenX, remember that streamripping is ilegal and simply not right. If you want to listen tothe station fine, but stealing their music is just wrong.

Havent listened to radio in ages.
I listen to about 3-4 new bands on Myspace
almost every day and then some sites like
http://www.bigupradio.com/ which is reggae 24/7
and http://www.radiochango.com which is Manu Chao's possee from Barcelona who spin the best alternative patchanka and mestizo music from spanish speaking countries as well as France, Quebec, Benelux, Italy, Germany, eastern europe and balkans as well as full of live concerts.
I have friends who have been pushing me to give the bands on Bebo a try but I just dont have the time.
What iz dis 'ray dio' you speak of?

I don't think that's entirely accurate. It true a lot of stations don't like the practice, but that's not the same as being illegal. As far as I know time shifting is still legit use. In some case it maybe very well be illegal but it depends on the country, license for the station, the content, and how you do the ripping. I would point out under the DMCA stations the play licensed music (like that from BMI and ASCAP) are forbidden from promoting stream ripping, they are not, however; necessarily required to actively prevent it.

I've tried Shoutcast, Yahoo's Launchcast and several other radio station sites. The best IMO is www.pandora.com. You get to choose the music, and it actually plays the music you like with almost no ads! Launchcast was waaay off. Anyway, read pandora's FAQ for some musical knowledge.
Disclaimer: I don't work for Pandora.

Yahoo Music is complete rubbish (trash) as it only works properly in the USA and only with IE. If only you US guys would not use it they might get the message that regionalisation is wrong.

Don't you remember back in the 80's when we had boom boxes with cassette players and hit record when our favorite song came on the radio?
Far as I am concerned the SAME THING.
I hit the pc version of record/play and get mp3.files instead.
Stop jumping on our necks.
Happy New Year, yo!

Timeshifting is one thing, actually ripping the stream to a file on your hard drive in order to break it up into multiple single files for later use is illegal, trust me I work in the industry and know the laws in and out, I have to work with them daily.
I can vouch for BigUp radio, great bunch of guys, and that player they use is actually my code.
I have to say, when it comes to just turning on the radio and listening to some usic in random order, nothing beats pandora, they very rarely have me itting the negative sign, almost every track played somehow fits my mood ofthe day, wether I am answering help tickets or working the phones/forums or even just coding someones radio website, Pandora always hits what I am looking for, and when they dont, I head over to www.audiorealm.com to see who is at the top of the list and tune in.

Nice review of the various alternative music services. However, your review of Pandora was inaccurate, which I think deserves a clarification on a future show. Most music services base their recommendations off of an artist and suggest other artists that you may also like. Unfortunately, this method of recommendation fails to account for the variation in sound that artists can have over the course of their respective careers. So, the early work of a particular artist or band may be classified as one genre, but their later work may be completely different.
Instead, Pandora goes through each SONG to analyze specific qualities of the song, regardless of the artist or band. The reviewers have dozens of individual classifications for every imaginable element within a piece of music. When you set up a playlist, the songs you hear after your initial selection are based on qualities within the song that can be matched to similar qualities within other songs. Thus the sometimes odd variation from one artist to the next (as you discovered during the show).
Overall, Pandora attempts to shift us from only choosing new music based on artist, and helps us to identify specific aspects of music we like to discover songs from artists we'd otherwise not even consider.
The Pandora site has a much more extensive explanation of their methodology.

Good call on CPU-Z and prime95! With it I was able to diagnose an alarm issue on my ABIT mobo that previously only occurred during intense gaming. Thanks guys!
I had to Google a bit to find prime95, so can you guys post a link in your notes?

The external hard drive I use for backups got flaky on me, and Windows was telling me that the drive was unformatted. Put it in the freezer overnight and Windows read the FAT well enough that I could recover 8 GB of files. Worked for me!
