I've heard people say that they wish they could view the live stream of dl.tv in Linux. Well, I am watching it live right now on my Kubuntu 7.04 (Feisty) x86 box! All I had to do was install the VLC 0.8.6 (VideoLAN) package: apt-get install vlc. Works like a charm, even in fullscreen.

I was a little disappointed you didn't mention the fact that SATA and PATA refer to the interconnect, whereas IDE refers to the fact that the drive controller is part of the drive. I know it's become customary to equate IDE to PATA, but it isn't completely accurate to do so. Just a little historical detail...

As always, though, an interesting show. Thanks.

Melted steel just brought down the Bay Bridge??? HAHAHA I guess Rosie O was wrong. This must be the second time in history that fire melted steel.

With SATA you have the advantage of not having master and slave issues. Also, if you've ever tried to burn from separate hard drives to separate DVD burners at the same time (running different versions of the PATA interface) you know that burning speeds take a severe hit.

SATA Burners have a great benefit when using the multiple recorders feature in some burning apps like nero 7. Each drive has its own channel to burn. As long as you have identical burners and each are on there own channel(PATA or SATA) then you have yourself your very own duplicator. FYI: add in cards for SATA are cheaper than add in cards for PATA. You should have a segment on a DIY duplicator.

Hi guys, fun show to watch again.

an error: 911 is _not_ universal
for instance in the Netherlands you dial 112

cheers

Be careful with compressed air & laptops. Using compressed air forces dust and dirt particles in areas where they would never go naturally, for example between the backlight and the LCD panel.

I think it is wiser to just use a feather duster to get between the keys. If it is really bad then just remove the keyboard and clean it away from the laptop.

Good show.
Flowed well.
How about torture testing some e-Sata cards, drives and enclosures?
