Not all DV cameras will digitize analog footage, especially older ones and cheaper ones.

Speaking from experience, though, the Pinnacle Dazzle hardware basically sucks. For a short capture, it's OK, but I personally became tired of the audio going irreparably out of sync during a decent-sized capture and bought a DV capture box (ADS Tech Pyro A/V Link) and Firewire card instead. Not only more reliable, but gives you actual selection when it comes to software.

Annalee can come back any old time she wants! She was fabulous! It is great to see women on the show that are intelligent, vibrant, beautiful and who know what they're talking about. Roger, as always, did wonderfully!

Yeah, more geek girls on the show :D Annalee was great, wouldn't mind seeing her more on the show. She's funny. Great tips on the photo mosaic apps, I'll have to try those out.

Annalee did a pretty good job, but she kept looking away from the camera, which made it weird to watch her.

I just bought an ADS VideoXpress and I'm still fiddling around with it. The device seems fine. Records live, which after owning several TV tuners I have to say I like. The software is a little lacking and I can't get it to finish doing its thing after capturing and saving the file. So I moved onto VirtualDub, found at SourceForge.net, and it seems to happily record a non-compressed stream from it (taking up lots of GBs on the HD in the process). Trouble is I'm not sure what format I should ultimately record in as a source file. Is that AVI and DV-1 and 2 format what people use when recording source files to work from?
But I do love the ADS Tech VideoXpress. It's keen. I suppose I should have gotten something that records HD video, but I'm planning on getting an HDHomerun from SiliconDust or Elgato so I can watch and record HD TV from any computer running BeyondTV 4 or MythTV. It's compatible out of the box for both.
