STUFF
• This webcast is sponsored by Hitachi
• Digital Life 2007 in NYC was a blast. There were lots of things to see and a much fun to be had. We'd like to thank all the fans and viewers that we met at the show. Whether you stopped by to say high, or hung out to chat for awhile it was great to meet the folks that make DL.TV such a great show. We hope to see all of you again at Digital Life 2008.
• Besides the highlight clips we also featured our first video emails courtesy of Tim and Rodney.
•
Tim had a question about saving over the air HDTV broadcasts. Robert's suggestions included the easiest, although a somewhat expensive option of a TiVo Series 3 or TiVo HD DVR plus a subscription to the TiVo service. If you want to go the PC route, there are a variety of USB/PCI/PCIe digital tuner options to choose from such as this USB-based tuner from Pinnacle Systems , and DIY'ers should definitely check out ExtremeTech's Media PC Build It article. PCAlchemy is also a great resource for HD tuner hardware and software options, and AVS Forum's HDTV section has categories related to HDTV recording and reception.
Robert also thinks that SnapStream Media's Beyond TV is a worthy alternative to Windows Media Center, and Dave from Woodbury, MN feels that SageTV's PVR software deserved an honorable mention as well.
• Rodney wanted to know how to burn an image to multiple burners. Short of picking up a CD/DVD duplicator the best option is using Nero with its burn to multiple burners function, however you will only be able to burn to drives at speed of the slowest drive. If you have 3 burners and 2 of them can burn at 40x while the other maxes out at 12x you'll be stuck burning 12x for all three with this option enabled.
• Don't forget to email us ( dl.tv@ziffdavis.com) your Wii console number. We Want Your Miis!!! Our number is 3866-4961-3764-6024. We have given you our number...now give us your!
• Finally thanks to all of our dedicated folders. With your help we hit #20 in the worldwide FAH team. For anyone not currently folding we encourage you to visit our FAH page and joing team DL.TV.
•
It's been a long time coming but we're finally giving away our HDTV from our set in a month long random drawing. The rules are simple:
• Create a video of 15 seconds or less.
• The video must be a tech question and feature the actual face of the person asking the question.
• You must be a resident of the US and at least 18 years of age. For the full legalese download the rules.
• Upload it to your YouTube page.
• If you haven't already, add DL.TV as a friend!
• Share your video with us!
• Even if you don't win we might still use your video question on a future episode of DL.TV
• And don't forget to send us an email with your full name, URL and name of the YouTube account you used, mailing address and your phone number. Put "DL.TV HDTV Giveaway" in the subject line.

Instead of using Neros' built in "use multiple burners" function, simply make a copy of the temporary disc image and run a second instance of Nero burning the copyed image.

Chang, where is your Russian or China "bomb America" tee shirt? What until you have kids in this country! I am no republican, but I hate how you inject your political opinion into every podcast.

Ha Ray. I was thinking the same thing when the old man started talking. "They just can learn like I learned. It's done." It's especially annoying since I listen to the mp3 version and there's no video to go with it. It just sounds like an old man complaining for no reason.

Digital Life was totally awesome this year. I saw both Mr. Heron and Mr. Chang at the Microsoft booth on Saturday, and wanted to say "Keep up the good work" to them, but was too star struck to say anything. I was able to make eye contact with Mr. Heron for a second at the booth, but they just finished a shoot and didnt wanna bother them. I also saw Mr. Chang do a shoot on the balcony, with the line of people waiting to get in(which i was in) also on Saturday, between 10:10am and 10:30am. And also was in that line of people when the cameragirl ( whos very pretty btw) when she ran past the line with the camera before the shoot. I also saw Mr. Heron at the PCMag booth doing a shoot for them around 5pm. I mean this was so totally awesome to see these people in 3D, in real life, instead of just on my computer screen. I mean THEIR REAL!! Not only was just being at the digital event of the year not only made MY year, but seeing them was the icing on the cake.

Ugg. I stopped watching the show when Pat left. Roger is so NOT a good host. I give up. How about sending Rog to training once a week? He's just awful as a host. Behind the camera is great but once you hear him. He's just not a good host. I love the guy but Robert is a pro... and Pat was a pro... but Roger ain't.

Why not use all this aggression to make positive suggestions for the show? I think both hosts are great, they each bring something unique to the table. They bring a level of realism to a show that's all about technology, and I think that's key so that we don't forget we are all humans in this automated world.

Jo, because then Uggg would do something to improve the show and he'd have nothing to sulk or complain about. I agree with you-- I adore Robert and Roger cracks me up! Both hosts are wonderful, and if they could just do something to cut back on the HDTV stuff just a hair, the show would be perfect ;-)

1st Video Question: "Capturing HD Content"
I recommending using TVIX-HD M-4000PA Media Player (website tvix.co.kr). You will need to add the ATSC tuner, hard drive and an antenna (you can order it pre-built from caloptic.com). Set up is easy and the quality is beautiful. It's like the AppleTV (similar in size as well), but with more functionality. It has a built in NIC and FTP Server. Once you record your "over the air" HD content, you can FTP over to your PC or connect the TVIX Media Player like an external USB hard drive to copy the content to your PC. Afterwards you can use SW from mediacoder.sourceforge.net to convert it or just use VLC or Windows Media Player to view it in its raw format. I use SW from Womble called MPEG2VCR to remove commercials and burn it to DVD (you will need to burn it as an UDF DVD type, due to large single file size). Note that every 10 minutes is about 1GB.
For those of you who do not have a tech savvy family, I also recommend this product. My wife loves her Dish Network PVR (NTSC), but when it comes to watching and recording HD content like Heroes or CSI, she uses TVIX Media Player.

Was it just me or did you keep looking to see if Paul Loeffler the PR Manager of Palm said UM again?
I counted he said UM, 23 times in 3 minutes.
Is that someone you want to represent you in a company? A person that keeps on saying um every 30 seconds?
