What's new in Episode 199
STUFF
• This webcast is sponsored by Hitachi
• Lucky us our dear friend and host of G4's X-Play, Morgan Webb, stopped by our studios early this week, and generously agreed to co-host this episode of DL.TV.
• If you're interested in starting a video podcast or just curious about how is produced Morgan shares her insights on the production process she uses to create her Webb Alert video podcast.
• In this week's installment of "3 Games in 3 Minutes"; Scott and Games For Window's Darren Gladstone take focus on Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, World in Conflict and The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass.
• Robert Heron gives us an in-depth look at Orb 2.0. It's the amazing free tool that allows you serve media on your home PC to anyone with a web browser.
• Loyd case enlightens us on the finer points of installing a motherboard, CPU and RAM in his latest Build a PC segment.
• DL.TV viewer James had a question about retrieving text files from some old 5.25" floppies. With the 5.25" floppy pretty much all but dead, locating new 5.25" drives will be an exercise in futility. Luckily Ebay can provide a ready source of used 5.25" PC drives. Once received all you need to do is attach the drive to the floppy header on your motherboard using a standard floppy cable. Most Windows OS from XP on down should see and access the drive like it would a 3.5" drive. If you don't have the inclination to locate, salvage and install a 5.25" drive consider using a floppy drive service.
• And we want to congratulate team DL.TV's hard earned entry into 20th place on the Folding@Home team rankings! Our journey toward the top 10 will be a long and difficult one, and we encourage everyone to spread the word, donate some idle computing power, and join team #57391. For more information about how you can help, please click on our Folding@Home page link.
• Don't for get to email us ( dl.tv@ziffdavis.com) your Wii console number. We Want Your Miis!!! Our number is 3866-4961-3764-6024. We have given you our number...now give us your!

What is it with this show and Mac people? The only thing Mac people have in common is that they aren't tech people. This is a tech show isn't it ?
x86 people = Geeks
Linux people = Nerds
Mac people = Dorks

Nice to have to see the REAL Morgan do something. I got pretty sick of the Morgan persona on X-Play. So it was nice to watch this episode with MORGAN being herself. I do believe DLTV just found a way to kill TEKZILLA. Take that, Corbin!

Personally I really didn't like the show (For the first time ever). Morgan doesn't seem to ever know too much about tech. She fumbles over it so awkwardly. I know some people think it's cute and all but personally, if I am listening to someone talk about tech, I would prefer they were on my level at least, and not just cute.

Loved it! the hardware tut and chemistry between Morgan Webb/Roger Chang was fun. First things that came to mind when it ended is... I want more, will Roger and Morgan do this more often? this is close to professional grade 'what used to be TechTV' material; and 3 minutes for 3 game reviews was plenty of time.
Pretty much agreed with first comment though.
Thank you guys for doing that show!

I agree with Marty - I don't watch dl.tv for eye candy and just when Roger was starting to get into the hang of things we get this curve ball. They spent so much time laughing and goofing around it was one of the least informative and rough episodes yet. Did anyone notice how smoother the Morgan and Robert segment was - perhaps because it was pre-recorded and Morgan is used to being able to edit everything in the mix?
Not that presenters can't be eye candy, but they should at least work well with the team and handle the live format - the Veronica episode 194 springs to mind.

Love the show! Take care!

I thought the show was fun and spontaneous. If it's informative and accurate, that's all you need right? Besides nothing is ever perfect all the time. I thought Morgan was great. I like the fact that both hosts were on the show with the guest. I think that format works very well.

My god, are you geeks predictable!
Have a remotely attractive (6 tequila minimum to reach that state) female on video and their hormones take over.
Yes, I know many of you still yearn for the good ol days when mommy and daddy were still together and living happily at TechTV. That's your own little fantasy world bub. Its time to move on or get therapy.
This chick is way overrated (this is not a female bashing thing, Im a big fan of Belmont, Molly Wood and the other broads at CNET), very average voice with an annoying speaking style and her so called 'looks' dont cover those deficiencies.
Of course, most of you are probably thinking "boobs that know tech" and as we all know, that trumps anything else. Bravo, boobs win.
I, on the other hand, lost part of my lunch right after her gems:
"your computer sucksssss" and "Unless your computer is really, really cool".
Gag+spoon.
Roger was actually pretty good (find someone annnoying enough and he shines) but his blood flow was probably going south a bit too much because everything was 'amazing' according to him.
3 games in 3 mins is excellent. I would have made that one of the minivideos instead of the System Monitor.
Orb looks very interesting, I DLed it and will try it this weekend.
If you must bring a female to sooth the savage nerds, then its Veronica by a mile.

I've been a fan of Morgan since her Screen Saver days and loved her on that show but disliked her forced persona on X-Play. During both this DL.TV episode and episode 3 of Tekzilla I felt she was refreshingly sincere about her interest in video blogging.
While some may denigrate her segment in this show for not being 'up to their level,' it must be remembered that for those who are not highly proficient at working with technology (video particularly), seeing the learning process of a self-taught video blogger is wonderfully helpful and accessible to them.

Umm ... I don't think Morgan knows what she's talking about when it comes to editing software. She said she had Final Cut Express but that didn't cut it ???? And then complained about the price ??? They do stuff with Motion, well that's why she needed to get the full blown. Stop complaining about the price. You want the high end features. You pay the high end price. Sheesh.

I was a little disappointed that she said tried Vegas and didn't like it because there was no one to ask. I've had great results from Vegas and 90% of the time Vegas is intuitive enough that I don't need to ask someone. But, the Sony Vegas forums are great for the extra 10% that I can't figure out.
Final Cut, on the other hand, seems a lot less intuitive to me than Vegas.
Then she says later on in the show that Vegas was only $80? She was talking about Vegas Movie Studio not the full $500 version of Vegas which can do an enormous amount of effects. And by the way was recently renamed to Vegas Pro with the version 8 release.

If Morgan can't use Vegas than she seriously needs hand holding when using an NLE. Vegas is perhaps the easiest, most intuitive, NLE program I have ever used, and I have practically tried them all.
With Vegas, I rarely need to use special effects plugins like the Adobe & Final Cut people. Vegas can be used like an NLE or an FX's package like a paint program, provided that you have a creative bone in your body. Vegas can't do everything for you afterall!
