STUFF
• John wanted to know if his CompUSA extended warranty that he purchase for his laptop will still be valid in light of the companies decision to close all its stores. From what we understand CompUSA through TAP will honor all of its extended warranties. For more information checkout CompUSA's Consumer Help Questions.
• Gordon and a half dozen other viewers took us to task over Synergy's ability to share multiple screens. While Synergy does allows sharing of keyboard and mouse it will not share a screen. Many Mea Culpa's on my behalf. I was thinking incorrectly of the way I use VNC over a local area network and conflated the two.
• Belkin's Network USB Hub is a great way to share USB devices like printers, scanners and storage devices across multiple machines. Although not compatible with more unique USB devices all my storage devices, printer and scanner at home work well. The biggest strikes against it are its current Windows only support and 10/100 network interface.
• Larry commented: "Roger, you are right to question the new 4 GIG reporting in Vista SP1. It only reports the amount of RAM in the computer, not the amount of RAM available to the operating system. This update is apparently for people who are not advanced users. No more questions from them since the operating system reports 4 GIG now even though the operating system still has apx. 3 GIG available for use."
• If you're a video editor or just thinking about entering the wonderful world of non-linear editing then check out Alex Lindsay's video editing tip. Learn about Color, the bundled application that makes up part of Final Cut Studio 2 ,and why you would want to use it on your next video project.
• Jason Cross from Extreme Tech drops by for an end of year look at video card highlights of 2007 and what you should expect to see in 2008.
• Although John Dvorak spilled the beans last week, I'm gonna make it official. As of the Dec 28th, 2007 I'll no longer be an employee of Ziff-Davis Media, and consequently no longer the producer/host of DL.TV. It's been a wonderful 2 years. While it hasn't been all sunshine and rainbows DL.TV has definitely been a rewarding and fulfilling experience.
• I want give special thanks to all of the guest hosts on the show; Veronica Belmont, Morgan Webb, and Annalee Newitz. They're all dear friends who offered me a helping hand when I needed it most. I also want to give special thanks to Robert for providing me much needed support in producing the show and offering a friendly ear to bounce ideas and topics from.
• To all of you who've supported the shows these many years and me these past few months, thank you. Robert and the rest of the DL.TV team have new plans in store for the show next year. I encourage all of you to show your support as they ready a new year of shows.
• If you want to catch up with me, know where I can get a great deal on a decent sounding cello, or share in my comic-book/sci-fi/lucha libre/cult movie/muscle car geekdom you can find me on Facebook or Pownce.
• And finally, Robert wanted to thank the loyal DL.TV fans for making it an awesome
2007 for the show, and he wishes everyone the best for 2008! Also, our Folding@home
crew's efforts are nothing short of amazing and he predicts the new year will see us break into the top 10.

Sad thing your leaving Roger. Definitely a worthy replacement of Patrick. Hope it goes well over 'there'!
Robert, dont you leave now!
There are many good but generic presenters and hosts, but Patrick, Robert and Roger are the best.

First Patrick, now Roger.
Hope to G Robert sticks around.
Roger's gonna be missed.
So, what's up for next year? Robert going solo? A new co-host? Perhaps different guest hosts every week?
*sigh*

Roger,
From what I read here it appears you may be headed to Revision3. If so then all is well.
Otherwise I hope DL.TV is not getting like G4 and thinking they know more than the viewer.
I wish you well and hope to see you at TWIT,Revision3 and perhaps a guest host here from time to time.

So sad to see another host leave DigitalLife TV.
Good luck Roger on your other show, but I am glad Robert is staying as he anchors the ongoing show with great comments. I like the one-take approach to making DL.TV as opposed to the other shows that have multiple-takes in recording a show.

Hey Roger, thanks for all your hard work on dl.tv. I'm sad to see you go to Revision 3 for a couple of reasons. One, they block revision 3 at work and I don't have the bandwidth to download shows at home. Two, dl.tv seems more family friendly than the programs at revision 3. And dl.tv seems a little more tech focused. Oh well, I wish you the best. Belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I was a witness of the moment Roger decided to leave. It was on a whim, really. He was like "life is so random and to prove my point I will decide if I should keep working for dltv by a game of rock paper scissors." OH, and what a game it was! You shoulda seen it. The expression on his face when he lost was priceless. (but I can only imagine the expression on his face when he finds out he actually took on a japanese champ, unbeaten for 10 years)

You guys were talking about the Belkin usb device to ethernet and the Belkin unit was $129 MSRP.
If all a user is going to use the USB for is network storage, there is a cheaper product that does the same thing - the Dlink DNS-120. Here in Canada it retails for as little as $50CDN. But it only does USB storage as far as I know.

Hey Roger - I am really sorry to see you go. You are a great host and very knowledgeable. I got to trust your opinion more than most presenters because of your zero bullsh*t factor. I wish you all the best in whatever you choose to do.

Where is the live feed today? Man - this operation is starting to go down the tubes..I miss Roger - BEHIND the camera - he had no business mumbling/stammerring in front of the camera. Robert just gets holding the bag until he decides enough is enough. Best of luck to you Robert in the year to come.
