STUFF
• This podcast is brought to you by Hitachi
• DL.TV viewer, Ralf, recommends we checkout the free cellphone navigation software at Nav4All. It's free until 2010. The only thing you'll need is a GPS antenna/receiver you can link to you phone.
• DL.TV viewer Steve suggested we take a look at the Garmin's Nuvi 660 before picking up the similar but pricier Nuvi 760 we recommended last show.
• Budget Notebooks: Taking your computing mobile is not as expensive as it use to be. We looked at 2 very affordable and full featured PC notebooks; the Acer Aspire 4710 and the Sony VAIO VGN-NR160. For those looking for something even more portable and open source based check out ASUS's Eee PC 4G.
• Power Inverters are a great way to power household appliances when you're on the road but there are some things to keep mind before you tote all your kitchen gear with. Check out Whistler's FAQ on the matter.
• David Calkins from the Robotics Society of America gives us a report from this year's Wirefly X Prize Cup. If you're spaceflight buff, robot fanatic or just like cool aerospace technology you won't want to miss this.
• Finally we had a question from Reverend Mark about the differences between the original TiVo Series3 HD DVR (digital video recorder) and the newer TiVo HD DVR - a recent TiVo software update has added TiVoToGo to the HD DVRs. Robert agreed with Mark's observation about the price difference between the two DVRs - online pricing for the Series3 is about $550 and the standard HD DVR costs about $250. Compared to the TiVo HD DVR, the Series3 provides slightly more hard drive storage space for recording shows, an OLED front display, and a fully backlit remote control. The Series3 is also the first (and only) DVR to be THX certified that helps insure optimal sound and video quality. Both HD DVRs provide HDMI and component video output, two CableCARD slots for dual-tuning functionality, and integrated over-the-air (OTA) digital tuners. Robert also mentioned that there is a $200 mail-in rebate for new Series3 purchases that is valid through January 26, 2008 making it an even more attractive deal. All TiVo DVRs require activation and a paid subscription to TiVo service in order receive TV programming information and to utilize all features.

Armadillo Aerospace is John Carmack's (id Software) project. Maybe Duke Heron could talk him into putting a bar in space? A drunken LAN party on the moon Robert? Great show as usual... looking forward to the download.

What does it mean when a particular podcast is brought to Hitachi? Whatever will they do to it?

Will we ever get it back safely? These are questions that concern me...

I love the show and would love to watch it on my Windows Mobile Pocket PC, but the WMV file you provide is too large to effectively watch on a mobile platform. It works great on a full size PC version of Windows Media Player, but not on the mobile WMP.
Right now I'm forced to use Windows Media Encoder to reduce the large WMV file to a 320x240 version. Of course, this is all done on the PC and takes a long time (20 mins). So basically, accessing the file or streaming on a pocket pc while on the run is impossible.

I guess what I'm asking for is to provide a Windows Mobile solution to accessing the show while mobile.

Another great show, but I really miss your Tuesday shows. Do you still have plans to go back to two shows a week? If not, why not?

David - Try the PODCAST (I saw your post on CG too). In this day & age of "DRM" just be thankful you can watch ANYTHING (even if you have to transcode it).

Robert - Please go on about the Cable companies! I thought I was going nuts just trying to figure out Comcast and QWest in order to get high speed internet for under a million bucks. I'm glad to see Roger is also peeved & confused. That makes me feel better.
