STUFF
• This podcast brought you by Audible.com.
• Veronica Belmont stopped by for one last visit before the the year's end.
• CompUSA is closing its doors at the end of the year. So if you're looking for a sweet deal on some computer technology checkout your local CompUSA stores.
• Viewer Comments: Stephen chimed in about car alternators stating that he had his S-10's alternator rebuilt to output twice the amps as the stock one to accommodate his stereo upgrade.
• Viewer Comments: James emailed with an important correction about the Sony VAIO VGN-NR160 we mentioned on the last show. We erroneously referred to its clock speed as being 2GHz when it's actually 1.5GHz.
• HD Sources: With HDTV's making up one of the most sought after gifts this season plenty of folks will be staring at a shiny new HD set this holiday. But what are you going to be watching on this fabulous new set; the same old boring SD content? Fear not! Robert is here with the top sources for HD content that will make happy you upgraded your TV.
• Cigarette Lighter Gadgets: Last week we looked at power inverters that enable you to run household appliances and gadgets inside a car. However, devices designed from the outset to run off a car's electrical system are a bit more efficient. So we had Scott run out and buy a select group of cigarette lighter enabled devices that should add a dollop of convenience to any road trip.
• Game Review: Garnett Lee from 1up.com is here to gives us the lowdown on Unreal Tournament III. Can a hit PC FPS franchise succeed in the videogame console environment?
• Finally Greg has a question about why his system, although outfitted with 4GB of RAM, shows a little under 3GB in Vista Ultimate. The short answer is that the way the PC was designed portions of system memory address space are used to access other hardware in the system. Partially because of the need to retain backward compatibility the issue crops up every so often as systems with 4GB or more of system RAM are quite common today. Robert suggests the SP1 patch to Vista will allow full access to the system's RAM. In my personal view the best thing to do, if you want all 4GB of RAM usable, is to upgrade to a 64 bit OS like Vista 64-bit, XP 64-bit, or the 64-bit versions of Linux. The flip side is that taking this path will open you up to driver issues (no 64-bit driver(s) for a particular piece of hardware) as well as some performance lag (although minor in most cases).

Nice episode with the Unreal Tournament 3 review.
I liked the answer to that 4 GB RAM Memory problem in 32-bit Windows Vista Ultimate problem.

Your shows become even greater when Veronica is on.
I definitely agree with Martin, you should invite Veronica more often (if that's any possible).
She can be the second host of the show - she wouldn't mind knowing that Mahalo doesn't take much of her time.

Cheers, Georgi.

Jeez, that's kinda sad that Windows can only read under 4GBs of RAM, especially since OS X can handle up to 16GBs.

Loved the show like always, though I still miss Patrick.
No offense Roger, and I know I'm not alone when I say this and I love your work at DLTV, but your chemistry with Veronica kinda s... I mean it looks bad on screen.
Veronica and Roger make a lovely couple, are there any hopes that we can see Veronica and Roger appear more often.
thx&grtz to the whole crew

Nice show...I really enjoy the three host idea with Roger and Robert hot seating and bring in a different person each time, hopefully female, keep going that way. Thanks for the quicky gadget bit and the memory addressing issue with windows...that will keep me from blowing some money in the future. I also learn something every time Robert does the HDTV stuff so keep that up as well.

I will have to disagree. I thought it was great. The only thing I might comment on, was that Veronica did not share the information equally.

I'm on a Vista Ultimate machine with 4GB running SP1 RC1 giving me the build 6001 and I can only see 2812GB so does Robert know something I don't. I need the info!!!

Hmm, sorry, but I made a typo in my comment, I said "Veronica and Roger make a lovely couple ..."

It should say "Veronica and ROBERT make a lovely couple ..."

Love the show. But you guys sounded like bumbling idiots this episode. Funny at times, sad at others. Thanks for the show, anyhow.

I like watching Roger Chang and Robert just fine. The chick is too snarky and annoying for my tastes. But for those two guys who love her - she is supposed to have her own show somewhere. Thnaks Roger and Robert for the real deal.

Robert,

The antenna you removed off the back of the ViP622 was for the multiroom remote (FM), since that DVR can drive a second TV (SD).

Since when is a travel cooler, a multi-plug strip and an AC/DC converter "bizarre" or "unusual"? Virtually every truck stop in the U.S. and Canada sells those, as does the Mobile Electronics department of most Best Buys.

Can Robert address standalone ATSC tuners for those of us who got suckered into buying "HD monitors" rather than "HDTVs"?

No feeling one way or the other about Veronica guest-hosting - though Robert smarting off from behind the camera WAS hilarious! :D

@srmadman - you are using 32-bit windows that is why

also Roger stated that egghead became newegg, which is a common misconception. newegg is seperate and egghead was bought out by amazon.com

C'Mon guys do some research before answering Viewer questions :)

Look up Physical Address Extension

32bit XP, 2003 and Vista can see 4 gigs if you start them with the /PAE switch

On a portable air compressor or any compressor for that matter will inflate quicker if it's CFM (cubic feet/minute) rating is higher. A 300 PSI inflater is totally unnecessary and if the specs. showed CFM, I'd rather go with one with higher CFM than higher PSI. Higher CFM will fill large items like flat tires, innertubes or beach toys faster. Car tires typically won't ever be inflated over 40 PSI, so realistically 300 PSI badged on it is just marketing hype making people think higher is better. It may just be luck that a higher PSI pump fills stuff faster because it's CFM rating is higher but it will not always be the case.
