STUFF
• Garnett Lee, Managing Editor for 1UP.com, joins Robert on the set.
• Robert and Garnett talk a bunch about what impressed them at CES 2008.
• We have a Vista tip for you today. Jason Cross of ExtremeTech.com shows you have to find the elusive Cookies Folder.
• Brian from Yakima, WA asks: I have the original Xbox 360. When they first came out, I know the best at the time was Component Video. I would like to use HDMI with it. Are there any cables or converters for Xbox 360 so I can use HDMI?
• Garnett mentioned that the original Xbox 360 had analog output only, and it appears that the MadCatz HDMI conversion kit converts a VGA signal to HDMI (analog to digital conversion). Considering that an HDTV's component video input performs a similar task (analog video input that's converted to digital prior to display), chances are that you would see no improvement in video quality. For home theater devices that offer HDMI output, we do suggest using that port when possible (with a TV that offers HDMI input) as it will provide the best image quality. Otherwise, don't waste your cash on (usually) expensive analog-to-digital video converter products - component video (and VGA) remains the best analog video connection.
• And a final note, We will be moving to a 15 minute or so show. But we want you to be sure that we will continue to bring you the best information on the latest technologies, and the best how-to's and best reviews from our analysts in NYC and here in SF. We will also, as always, answer your questions. Know that DL.TV is alive and well and we hope you will continue to watch.

Hahahhaah! I love the Glock .45mm gun picture you had posted in your Google Picassa photo album at the end of the show! God you are crazy! Now my girlfriend who watches the podcast with me can confirm that geeks are losers with guns!

Thanks guys. Good show. I could live with 15 minutes (actually suits me better) but it would be great twice a week.
Yes, please hang in there. We love DL.TV

Yeah, I thought the whole point of going from 2 shows to one show was to produce more and better content. It really does look like this show is on it's death bed...15 minutes (with 5 being commercials) really doesn't bode well.

15 minutes is good for me. Smaller downloads at work is good.
Twice a week would be great and Garnett makes an excellent co-host.

I'm sorry, I commented a second earlier. I take back my comment about "getting rid of Heron". After watching the show, it was actually pretty enjoyable and Robert didn't get on my nerves like usual. Nice show guys!

last episode i told robert to pull his finger out, and he did although just when it was getting good someone off camera made them get on with it, gotta say that theres not much point of a 15 mins show with a 5 min ad break hopefully its going to be a 20min show with 5mins of an ad break although sad to say it does look like its been poorly managed since the recent departures and now looks like its last leg is at the verge of breaking its such a shame i used to really enjoy dl.tv twice a week

Your new MacFanboy is a real turnoff. Typical of Mac people..."To hell with anything Microsoft". This is so old and worn out. Get a life already. There is nothing wrong with Microsoft products.

I'm a big fan of the Apple TV Take 2. Getting the PC out of the equation makes this Mom-friendly. My mom is not computer savvy and has difficulty using iTunes. I think she could easily use an Apple TV if I set it up, like I set up her wireless network. For me the Apple TV is now a set top box that anyone can use to watch video podcasts, like DL.TV. Let the writers strike because an Apple TV will bring Internet TV to the masses.

I'm surprised they didn't talk about how you can already get video podcasts to your tv via Windows Media Center and the XBox 360. Just install TVTonic (which is free!) and it adds an icon in MCE. There is a list of podcasts which you can subscribe to (from tv or pc) and you can add custom ones (pc). It now supports Quicktime 7.2 as well so the video does not need to be in wmv. The biggest drawback to video podcasts is the quality. Better quality means bigger dl's. I'm all for it but not many are putting out good quality! See the large format version of Geek Breif or the few HD podcasts - looks great on my HDTV. DLTV is pixelated - wish the quality was better.
