STUFF
• Our Viewer Tech Pic of the Week is from Frank. He is showing off his home theater that he and his wife designed and built in their basment.
• Our own East Coast Video Producer and avid photographer, Veanne Cao, has some great tips on what you should look for in a digital camera before you buy.
• Our East Coast Video Producer Veanne Cao had a brain fart after going through about a dozen digital cameras. She meant to say, Casio Exilim S880, not EX-Z1080. Thanks Brett Otte for catching that!
• 3 Games in 3 Minutes is back with its 2008 editions. Brian Intihar, Previews editor for Electronic Gaming Monthly, joins Scott to talk about Burnout: Paradise, Harvey Birdman: Attorney At Law and NFLTour.
• We have a viewer question from Robert and he is from Kalamazoo, MI:
• I used to have a Pentium 4 CPU that ran at 3.4GHz. Recently, I finally bought a new laptop that has a Core 2 with a speed of 1.67GHz. What is it that makes the Core 2 better? Is it just the two cores that make up for the loss in speed? Robert from Kalamazoo, MI
• Jason Cross of ExtremeTech.com mentioned that the 2 cores are in part the reason that the Core 2 is faster. However, the main reason is the architecture of the Core 2 that allows more work to be done in a lesser amount of CPU cycles.
• Folding@Home Update: We are holding steady at 13. Once we overtake the 12 spot, it looks like we can shoot up a couple more spots. Just a reminder, if you click on our Folding@Home link we have our interview with Prof. Vijay Pande and instructions on how to configure the Folding@Home client on your machine of choice.

• Next week we have a tip from Garnett Lee. He will be Showing off Google Reader's Share functionality. We also test the toughness of Blu-Ray Discs.
• We missed something in our show notes from last week. Gregg in Michigan, wrote in to let us know that we forgot to add in Garnett's $900 PC recco that will handle Crysis: The Crysis PC for $900 as mentioned by Garnett Lee wasn't linked in the show notes. Well Gregg, it is now. Thanks for the heads up!

Good insight on the digital camera, Veanne. Although I'm not a fan of the Casio Exilim myself - I've always found the quality in low light to be subpar. I have the Canon 750-something or other. Great product!

I totally agree with that Veann girl about the megapixels... I've been saying that for years that we don't need no stinking 10 megapixels. Give me smaller cameras with better video capabilities like that Casio she demoed. She was great... bring her back for more! Maybe on ultra-compact consumer video cameras and what to use to edit down video for youtubes and the like???

Robert I like the shorter format if your going to pack this much info into it.

Did Veanne say kaka? That was awesome! I will never think of digital zoom the same way again. She is quite hot wow. I vote that she should be the new co-host.

I am sorry but the format is to short. You add the commercial and it is not 15 minutes. I fear that either the bean counters think there is not enough viewers or there is not enough advertising.

Either way it scares me all these changes. I think the fan consensus is just have the show. We have adapted to all the changes but this short 15 minutes actually less with commercials is torture.

I liked Veannes's segment on digital cameras. Especially her calling out the uselessness of digital zoom.

hey guys... felt to short. I see maybe why you guys are makeing it short. but i have to say i like to see it back to about 30mins.

I like the new content and format but for one issue: lack of dialog in the presentation. Having another host at least listening and nodding creates much more interesting and engaging presentation. You could see this in particular with the Veanne's segment; she repeatedly looked to the side as in effort to provide such dialog, be it with someone outside of the screen...

Kyle: Thank you - I was having a bad number day.

And thanks to everyone who wrote in (and posted here) with questions, comments, and feedback. (we read everything ;)

The segments were short, but informative. The information garnered is well worth the commercial break. I've always had questions about digital cameras and what all the numbers and jargon mean. Veanne's insight into cameras and photography in general helped learn a lot about what I did and didn't need out of a digital camera. Her wit and attitude are refreshing. It's not often you hear honest, informed opinions!

The piece on cpu's was very accurate, being very computer centric, I already knew the answer, but it was nice to hear it in plain english and would help anyone not in the know figure out the why's, the what's and the how's of cpu's.

Thanks again for a very informative piece!

Wow never saw Veanne before, they should have more of her, a lot more. Great show.

Thanks for the digital cameras segment. Veanne seemed really knowledgeable on digital cameras for being a film photographer. I was curious so I googled her name and found her Flickr page. http://flickr.com/photos/heymylai

Some pretty good stuff. I suggest you guys bring her on again, plus she's easy on the eyes. :-)

Show seems to be more focused now - definitely more bang-for-the-buck. Still, I think 15 minutes is just a light snack, and 30 minutes would be more like a satisfying meal. A co-host could add some interaction and a different perspective, too (as long as the show doesn't get off track too often, or for too long).

Keep up the great work!

Content of the show was good, but maybe like some others have mentioned...too short! If you don't have any other content to cover for the week, I feel the least you could do is to answer more viewer questions on the show...say like answer 5 or 6 questions instead of just a measly one question! I know I for one, have send in a question to DL.TV and hey! Guess what! It wasn't answered! I think the show should be at least 30 minutes long. (especially if it's only one episode a week.

Is DL.TV dying on its feet? Having lost 2 core presenters and having cut from two 30 minute shows to 15 minutes complete with embarressing Godaddy commercial - how much longer can it limp on?
Lets have some more interesting presenters and stuff we really want to watch. The photo thing was good, 3 games in a 3 minutes not so good.

the problem with larger and bigger megapixels is when the size of the CCD stays the same size and the # of pix get larger u have more and smaller points to gather light and also the space between points get jammed tighter so you get less resolution and u get bleed over from one point to another called fringing. The SLR 10meg CCD are much bigger - if fact some of the SLRs have full 35mm size CCDs which overcomes those problems.

I would have to agree with everyone that a 30 minute show would be better to get in more viewer questions. Only have one question answered in the last part of the show just is not cutting it at all. I really think the show needs a new co-host it was alright with the ces coverage but after a few shows it just does not feel right. A co-host would make the show better and more complete. The show right now still feels like it is in its transition phase.

I agree with " john bowersox" it does feel like a show in transition, the episode wasn't bad ... but i do miss the 2 host format. Even if they rotate hosts or have Scott/Garnett sit in, a full time second host would be best. I wish the show was longer or the same length as the older episodes were 30 - 45 min. I will say Robert did a good job.

Robert you did a great job flying solo today. Are you guys having difficulty finding a co-host? I think the show works much better with two people at the helm. Maybe you guys should open up casting calls and see if any of the show's fans would make a good co-host? I know I would love to give it a shot.

Also, the 15 minute show seemed too rushed. Having a 30 minute show felt much better and gave me more time to sit down, relax, and enjoy it.

I would have to agree with everyone that a 20 minute show would be better to get in more viewer questions.
