OK folks, let`s find a co-host with some pizazz and get this show back too where it use to be like when Pat was on.Lately it`s been a little uninteresting at least for me.Either invest some time to get it rolling again or just end it now,i`m hoping it improves soon.Thnx.
You know i agree w/ dumbunny
we really need to find a co-host or spen time make the show GREAT like it use to be
you guys dont really talk bout anything and robert you seem a lil uncomterble on screen than the transitions from one subject to the next is not smooth.
Thanks

You can run VLC with out installing it. Go to PortableApps.com and download "VLC Media Player Portable" http://portableapps.com/apps/music_video/vlc_portable
It is the same VLC player with small script that allows you to run it directly from USB flash drive. That way you can play any file on any computer that you are allowed to run apps from external drive.
Note: VLC some time has problem playing some WMV files, but for that any Windows PC has Media Player build in.
AWESOME SHOW, seem's like things are getting back on track....The tax guy was awesome and informative and also the plugin's made my day,...plus he's not too bad at being a host.
Hope to see more great stuff (WEEKLY)

Jeez... you critics are ruthless. I think Brooks did well for his first show and will get better with time.
I agree though with some of the comments and think DL.TV has lost its way a bit. I am hoping that it will reclaim its once 'top tech show on the web' status.

I agree with Duke Heron on VLC. I've tried those codec packs in the past and only a few would work after jumping through configuation hoops. More trouble than they're worth imho. The only problem with VLC it won't play certain FLV files. Sometimes only the audio will play... In some cases RIVA player will work for those. VLC can be a pain in the butt to install on a Linux build due to needing a bunch of packages but for Windows just launch the setup. Great show as usual! Brooks would make a good co-host once he gets over being nervous. Just give 'im a xanax or two and prop him up in front of the camera...
Things have been a little weird since Patrick left. Part of it is the shorter time of the show. The other has been what seemed like much less content and a "straight to the content" style. The one thing that is missing is someone like Patrick that can talk about something in some detail, rather than just cut to a story about it, make a snide quip and then move on. Hopefully this will all flush itself out as pieces fall into place.
I appreciate everyone who participates in the show including Robert and the guest hosts - but hopefully they'll settle on someone permanent who is intelligent, well-informed, experienced and able to talk about a wide variety of topics in a way that a long time industry guy like myself can feel informed.
Also, how did you guys track down Jim Breuer and get him to do the segment at the expo where he was playing with the boxing game and the 3D game controller?
LOVED THE SHOW. I still think Scott was better last week but for a first time appearance the new stoned guy, Verconica something, did pretty well. (Of course, I wouldnt go for a fit, tanned guy as a co-host next to Robert, made him look heavier and pastier! You need a stocky fellow like Norton was.)
THe topics were all interesting, even the one I didnt care about the taxes (I thought it was a skit when I heard the guy speak, high points to segment for comedy value), I still ended up sending the URL to friends who are looking at this stuff at this time of the year..
And while I was against losing 1 show, I think the quality has gotten better from start to finish. It seems like there is less filler.
Cool extensions (and actually useful) but youre about 6 months too late for Bugmenot's wake. When it came out, it was awesome. Its gotten so bad that I that the top results would start at 25%. It was amazing for sport hounds who frequent www.prosportdaily.com and it got so bad that people in the forums end up having their own circle jerks to have the up to date ones because Bugmenot has became so lame.
Piclens is gorgeous (even if it is 1MB). Kids and wife love it.
I add the cool add-ons only on the Linux side of our dual-boots :-)

An extension that I like is called Linkification. Whenever you see a text URL online, it replaces it with a link that you can click. It's pretty handy at times.
Awesome episode! I absolutely love PicLens. Thanks for telling us about it.

I really think the show would do better if they got a co host that would stay. Switching host each week was great for awhile but the show still feels like it is in the transition phase. I wish dltv would just get a co host and be done with it.
Okay Brooks Rowlett, repeat after me: RTF stands for _Rich_ Text Format, not Real Text Format.

Oops, in my last post, I meant to say Robert and Brooks make a good team, but I typed the wrong name.

I tried piclens after watching the demo. This extension has the beginning of commercial quality features. I recommend this for those that view galleries on popular photo sharing sites. Also makes sorting through deviant art pretty snappy.
I like things that get me directly to the content and offer a great experience while doing it. I look forward to seeing what features follow.
The tax guy was great!!..........not....liked Brooks intro as Veronica but it was down hill from there...look forward to the stuff next week on the GDC.

I have to agree with the critics, there hasn't been a memorable show since Norton did the splits.... Robert, you've been doing good holding it together though... but I'm not as faithful and excited about watching the new job every week, and if things don't pick up soon, I may just give up altogether. Any chance is getting Norton back?

I liked that PicLens plug-in for Firefox web browser the best.

Why not inform the viewers that the Firefox extensions show on the show are also available in LINUX? Is there a reason that you only state "available for Windows or Mac"? One problem is that Mac is an architecture, and not an OS! (osX is the OS) The other problem is that LINUX is the #3 OS, and this show never states that the software being reviewed is even available on LINUX!?!
Please take the extra second to review the possibility that something that is being reviewed (Hardware/Software) is available for LINUX.
Also, I think you guys are tech people, so please stop embarrassing yourself and state the OS the software runs on, and not the architecture.
