For some reason, I'm having streaming problems with this broadcast. I don't think its on my end since I watched the streaming episode just a while ago with no problems.

Follow DL.TV on Twitter and you'll find out what's going on.
For example: " Calamity in the studio! Those watching live: We told you it'd be a special episode... lol Spore video up shortly"

"sprinkler system disaster on the 5th floor where our studio is. Status of podcast equipment uncertain, but looks grim"

Wow! Thats happens when no fire alarm goes off but in places it does their isn't sprinklers! Where will DL.TV be next week?!

dl.tv's got plenty of friends in San Francisco. If the studio's wrecked (does Cranky Geeks film on the 5th floor too?), then I'm sure we'll be seeing them on the Tekzilla set, or something similar.

That was cool, though. Kudos for them not editing out the chaos.

That was staged, right? What's up with the TV broadcast bars on a streaming video?

Posted by: Annonymous
September 6, 2008 1:51 AM

EARTHQUAKE!

Really though. Are you (San Fran folks) ready? It IS coming...

Posted by: Muro
September 6, 2008 4:53 AM

that was AWESOME! Totally surprised me as I had the video minimized!

September 6, 2008 10:06 AM

It might be what happens when the video streamer box loses the camera.

Spore was not happy with the way the interview was going, so SPORE evolved enough to shut the studio down.

Really, it's the only possible answer for an impossible event.

CDC is on the way, standby...standby...standby...

real world Cloverfield?

September 9, 2008 10:27 AM

I think that was a Halon system. If so I hope everybody got checked out and was ok. It can be nasty stuff to mess with. On the plus side Kudos for following the first rule, Don't Panic! Now here's your towel.

September 9, 2008 1:30 PM

I thought something was odd when there were no opening credits. You guys heat the room up enough to trip the Halon? We want Deets and pics!

Posted by: kevinm
September 9, 2008 5:41 PM

Nice ending! But I think that wasn't planned. Either you guys filmed during the 4.0 earthquake or a light might have overheated and tripped the Halon system.

NVM. There is a post on 1UP explaining what happened. The main sprinkler pipe burst gushing water all over the studio. Hope this doesn't affect the show Thursday.

September 10, 2008 11:05 AM

Wow. Totally unexpected. I thought it was odd that the show was so short. I bet everybody pays VERY close attention to future shows. Hope everyone is OK and you get back online soon.

Priceless... but hope all is well...

By the way, it is not a halon system in use. Halon is a chemical compound that depletes oxygen usually in a room that is sealed off. You usually get a warning so anybody in the area can leave before the halon is released (you don't want be caught inside room when Halon is present!). This is definitely a sprinkler system.

So it was probably FM200 (a halon replacement)... it didn't look like water to me.

Believe it or not... we just had the fire inspector accidently dump our FM200 tank on Wednesday... so I have first hand info of what it looks like. :-)

EXCELLENT special!

I looked around on Youtube and other sites and wasnt much better off knowing if this would be ok for younger kids (and for me!) but this was the definite answer.

I plugged in my Acer One netbook in our projector at work during lunch and we had 23 people by the end watching it with the 3 people who wanted to see it with me originally.

I even ended up writing WWW.DL.TV on the board because everyone kept asking me where I DLed this from.

Well done.
