I find it ironic that last episode you talked about how to stream your show onto tivo and then this week there is no longer any show to stream. I am upset but also understand. Best of luck

Aw darn it. This was without question my absolute favorite tech program. Robert, I learned a ton from you and all the guests. Everyone at DL.TV has to be proud of all the graduates that went on to do great things. Thank you to all of you. I'll miss this program a ton. Robert, the best of luck to you in everything you do.

I am not a computer guru. Just an average home computer want to be geek and I must say I have enjoyed watching and learning from those at DL.TV. I also remember fondly the days of Tech TV. These kinds of programs have provided an important source of Tech news and information in a format that even the average "Joe" or average "Jane" could understand. My sincere hope is that this hiatus is temporary and not of a permanent nature. Please come back! We need you to help bring joy and happiness to a what sometimes can seem like a hopeless and desolate world. I'm waiting!!!!!!!!!!!

Too much grumpy geek and not enough carefree creative Robert Heron. It's a sign of the times. When your only tool is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.

Be real, be sober.

I love the program and have learned so much from you and your guests over the years. I cannot stress what a wonderful and valuable resource dl.tv is and has been.

Best of luck!

Bummer. I'm gonna miss it. (Honestly, though, instead of a regularly scheduled show, I'd rather see a feed-based subscription that simply notifies us when there is a show, whenever that is--there's good stuff to report on, just not necessarily every week.)

Although I will miss dl.tv, I think that Robert can hop on over to Rev3 and work with Patrick again!

Aw man this sucks I was truly hoping I would find today's show notes. I watched dltv ever since patrick was hosting the show and even when he left I still watched the show. When the show did not have a permanent host I feel the show took a shear dive down the tubes. With the current economic downturn I know this hurt the show a lot. I will miss watching robert on dltv and I hope someday dltv will air someday in the future. Thanks to robert, brooks, scott, loyd, and the rest of the dltv crew. Thank you guys for all of the great content you guys put together. You guys where awesome thanks for the memories.

Thanks to all of those who worked with dl.tv. I really hope Robert finds some other regular video podcast to host or co-host. I liked his rants about HDTV's and all that's related to it :-)

Once again thanks for all the shows and good luck in the future, the show will be missed!

too bad. Ever since Norten left the show hasn't been the same and I stopped watching it soon after he left. just wasn't the same. I kind of expected it with the hosts allways changing and all...

it's sad, I liked the show...

This is terrible news. I do not understand why the best shows online keep going away. Thank you Robert, for all you have done, and those who tried to keep it going. We obviously do not know all of what went on behind the scenes, but this is a sad day for the industry.

February 12, 2009 3:40 PM

Thanks for the great show Robert and all the crew. As a regular viewer (never missed an episode!), I'm disappointed at this news and I genuinely wish you all the best for the future. I'll second the notion that Revision3 would be an obvious venue for your work Robert. I know they've had their cutbacks too but their image and attitude is more in line with what DLTV used to be before Mevio came along... and it would be great to see you back with Roger and Patrick on a weekly basis. I guarantee DLTV fans would go ap3sh!t for that!

February 12, 2009 3:55 PM

Oh, No! This show and Cranky Geeks are my two favorite tech shows. I echo the sentiment of earlier posters and hope that the hiatus is only temporary. Viva la DL.TV!

I think Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader said it best (in Episode 3) when he he said "Nooooooooooo!!!" I love DL.TV & Cranky Geeks. It's bad enough that 1up's podcasts were killed off, but now DL.TV? Man... I know that the economy sucks right now, but still...

Just for the record, I love the show & been a viewer since Day One. Hell, I have every episode archived on my PS3's external HDD. I'll keep my fingers, toes, and anything else I can find crossed in hopes that the sow will come back. In short: To hell with MTV - I want my DL.TV! Take care Robert.

This is a shame. You vidcast was THE reason I started downloading pod & vid casts. Why I started using TVersity to download your show and watch it on my HDTV. As I've said on the forum, I like your show more than Tekzilla and they have Veronica.

Thanks for the shows and hope to see you soon.

I know everyone involved with producing DL.TV has to be sick in the stomach going out like this. I final goodbye episode would have made it feel better and helped the fans feel a bit better about the regular show cancellation.

DL.TV has been a great source of entertainment, and still could be. Content is the key; new product reviews, trade show floor fun and lively banter will draw the unique viewers needed to sustain adverts.

Come on Curry, don't be a reptile, fire one up and get this show rock'en again!

February 12, 2009 10:18 PM

I'm not surprised but I hate to see it go. I think Robert is going to be on Systm next week with Patrick.

Posted by: Martin
February 12, 2009 11:20 PM

I agree with Ryan. It's not a surprise but sure the heck is disappointing. Your post says "too few bodies left to put out a consistent and quality show", but I don't care if it's just you in front of webcam sitting on your lounge. I watch for the information and the education, not the quality. Give it a try and see how it rates.

February 12, 2009 11:33 PM

Watching this show has been a weekly ritual for a long time. I will miss Robert and (most) of the co-hosts deeply. I was hoping the show could find itself after the Mevio takeover, but I probably wasn't alone in seeing the writing on the wall shortly thereafter.

And wouldn't you know it, I was finally ready to send in some tech pics to get my 15 minutes of fame! Ah well, maybe it'll be resurrected at some point, in some way.

All the best to you Robert. Maybe there's a new show in your future. I'll be watching if it comes on the interwebs :)

In the mean time, let's keep folding! That number 5 spot is within spitting distance, and I bet we get close to if not crack 3rd spot this year.

February 13, 2009 6:32 AM

RIP. It is a sad day. DL.TV was the first video podcast I started watching. It always had a glorious amateur feel to it, but Roger Chang and Patrick Norton moved over to Revision 3 and it lost its way a bit. The problem with Tekzilla is that it looks too good and professional. I guess that is why the sponsors like it.

I also hope this hiatus is not a permanent one. dl.tv is a brilliant show, one which I've been watching the past few years. It's really kept me in the know about all the various tech that's both on the horizon and in the shops.

Best of luck to everyone involved with the show and hopefully this won't be the last we hear of dl.tv

dl.tv and second-take going down within a few months. It's a bad time for web based tech shows. Lets hope that revision3 can survive the credit crunch. And also that cranky geeks will still be on.

I will sure miss dl.tv since I have watched it for a couple of years here in Sweden!

I have just a quick question for the people at dltv. Since the show is being put on hiatus and if the show does not come back will you guys keep the videos as a archive? There are so many episodes no one could ever download all of them and put them on a hard drive. I just would like to know if that would be possible or not.

Posted by: Rob
February 14, 2009 8:49 PM

I really miss the glory days of Patrick and Robert. The two of you made for a informative and entertaining program. I faithfully watched each show. But the show lost its direction and enthusiasm when Patrick and Jim left for Revision 3. Robert, I wish you the best. Maybe you, too, will one day join Revision 3 and we'll be able to enjoy your words of wisdom again.

Posted by: Dave
February 15, 2009 9:25 AM

This news saddens me greatly, as I have enjoyed the show over the years.

It saddens me even more to see so few fans' reactions to this big news. To have only a dozen comments posted in reaction (and even worse, three comments in the forum) speaks volume that most fans have left the show and do not care a bit of what's happened to it.

It is best that Robert moves to another venture and puts his great talent to better use than to babysit this shell of a show.

Posted by: eBob
February 15, 2009 9:27 AM

Well, I haven't commented here very much previously, but felt the need to comment. Over the past several months it seems that the show has slowly gone downhill. At first, it moved from twice-a-week to once-a-week. Then, each episode seemed to get shorter. I suppose that it was inevitable. Hopefully, it can be retooled and brought back someday. There is still plenty of great tech to talk about.

The world economy is so bad, I'm not sure if any of us will survive it. So much for letting The Smartest Guys In The Room run the markets with no oversight.

Robert, you should at least start your own podcast. Your askew take on all things digital and otherwise would have an instant following.

Posted by: Flashfox

First PC Mag goes full digital (BTW, I will not renew my subscription) and now DL.TV is silenced. Even though I understand that in these tough financial times, it's hard to stay profitable and survive, I can still state that I will sorely miss this show. Looks like I will focus on Revision 3 and hope that it is able to survive this severe recession. Robert & the team, you all did a great job!

Guys you impressed me with your video talents, ie. encodinging, script, and etc. Rev 3 is where it is @, and I'm glad you will all, hopefully, be there.

Well it looks like you guys have been credit crunched :( T'is a pity... we have nothing like the show over here in Ireland and it was always a pleasure to tune in.

I guess it is off to Revision 3 with me now.. If only you knew someone over there who could give you screen time Robert, if only....

This is such sad news, DL.TV was the first videocast I watched regularly. It went a bit wobbly when Pat left but Robert grew into the role as main host. I hope DL.TV returns at some point, but if it's gone for good then thank you for all the fun.

Like others who have posted before me, I will definitely miss DL.TV and do sincerely hope that it gets another chance in a more supportive environment. It was my personal favorite weekly tech show. Robert is a wise, engaging host and I will continue to listen to him on the wonderful Extreme Tech podcast. However, I do hope he is able to find work as a host or co-host on a another video tech show. Bottom line: many of my tech purchases over the past two years were based on the knowledge I gained from watching DL.TV. Best wishes to all connected with the show.

Robert, I wish you future success. You should have your own HD/HD to computer type show. This would be something that is really needed and I am sure vendors would pony up the sponsorships. The tech community needs a good guy reviewing/critiquing/demonstrating proper setup, etc of the HD technologies. Keep us posted.
